Jamie Heaslip has opened up about Ireland’s performance during the the Rugby World Cup, admitting that he feels the team let themselves down.
The sports star was at the Web Summit today speaking about business ventures when the subject came up.
Speaking about their final match in the competition against Argentina, Jamie said, “We let ourselves down in the first ten minutes, although we responded well afterwards, it was too late.”
He continued to chat about the Irish team’s rugby journey, explaining that their triumphant game against France was “the most mental match I’ve ever been involved in, it was unbelievable.”

Since finishing up in the World Cup, Jamie took a well deserved holiday in New York before getting straight back into training with the Leinster team.
In the midst of his training with the likes of Dave and Rob Kearney and Johnny Sexton, Jamie took some time out to pose for a quick pic with some fans – who just so happened to be Amanda Brunker’s young boys.
The boys were around UCD last week when they spotted the team practising, and were sure to grab a snap.
‘Average day at UCD camp hanging with Irish rugby heroes,” a delighted Amanda wrote on Twitter.
