Jame Arthur could be sued by Irish band The Script over his latest single Say You Won’t Let Go.

The Dublin trio, who are currently recording their brand new album, are unhappy with the X Factor star after similarities emerged between their song The Man Who Can’t Be Moved, and James’ latest single.

Both acts are signed to the same management company, however this hasn’t stopped The Script from looking into a case of possible copyright infringement, as they’ve apparently hired a music expert to investigate further.

According to The Sun, an insider said, “This is devastating for James. He has pulled off one of the most incredible music stories of the year by re-signing with Simon Cowell and getting to No1 for three weeks in a row.

Say You Won’t Let Go is already one of the biggest singles of the year so this is a real hammer blow. There is no doubt the songs sound alike and have a similar chord progression.

“It’ll be interesting to see what happens next. James has just got back not he straight and narrow after a difficult few years and a lawsuit is the last thing he needs.”

Take a listen to the two tracks for yourself:
