Last night saw The Late Late Show broadcast live from Central Hall in Westminster, London, in a change of scenery for host Ryan Tubridy.
Guests included some great Irish names, as well as UK politicians and more, with Brendan O’Carroll, Graham Norton, Eamonn Holmes, Laura Whitmore, Imelda May and Nigel Farage all taking to the stage.
Although the show itself went off without a hitch, RTE have since issued a statement regarding the ticket fiasco, which saw huge crowds of people turned away at the door, despite having a ticket.
“It’s so disappointing, I met so many lovely people who had made all sorts of big effort to get there,” Sinead O’Sullivan, an audience member, told Independent.ie.
“When we arrived tonight there were huge crowds of people and the company which were handling the tickets said; “sorry but it’s full – we were oversubscribed.
“There were hundreds of disappointed people left outside of all ages. It just didn’t make sense why they issued so many tickets. People were so gutted.”
Following the incident, RTE said in a statement that “sadly not everyone we send our tickets to, including production guests, use them.
“So all television show tickets must be over-issue by a percentage to compensate for these ‘no-shows’ to ensure a full studio audience.
“Due to this, entrance is subject to seating capacity and served on a first come, first serve basis.”
Many disappointed guests took to social media to air their upset.
@RTENewsNow absolutely disgraceful standing, queuing outside the late late show in London for 3 hours to be told we’re not getting in when we have allocated tickets. People queue jumping!! So badly organised. Gutted won’t be watching the late late show again so angry.
