We are all one hundred per cent behind the Girls in Green this summer.
Ireland’s Women’s National Team qualified for the World Cup for the first time and took the pitch for their debut match in Australia on Thursday morning.
While they didn’t win, it was a well-fought match.
The whole country has been cheering on the team. And that was shown with the incredible viewing figures.
Live coverage of the match generated 360,000 live streams on RTÉ Player with viewers watching from across the nation.
The match has become the second highest streamed live sporting match on the RTÉ Player, with the FIFA Men’s World Cup final in November 2022 having generated 490,000 streams.
Ireland’s next group match against Canada is next Wednesday, July 26th at 1pm. They will then take on Nigeria on July 31st at 11am.
We can’t wait to cheer on the team for the next few weeks as the tournament continues.
