Sinead O’Brien has shared that her father has sadly passed away.
She took to social media to share several pictures of her father over the years, including sweet pictures with his wife and Sinead’s son, Jacob.
“The greatest man I have ever known!“ she wrote as she shared the sad news.
“Dad you held me for my first breath and I held you for your last, and I know you’ll forever wrap your arms around me and mind me, until we meet again.

“My beautiful dad went to sleep yesterday with all us by his side. He will forever be in our hearts, my greatest love, my best friend, my everything, my dad.“
Sinead previously told VIP Magazine: “My dad is very sick at the moment and he’s been through a lot. He’s been in hospital for the last 11 weeks.“
She went on to say that he absolutely doted on her young son, Jacob, who was the first boy in the family.
“My dad has been surrounded by women all his life so he’s delighted. Myself and Simon have a really good dynamic but we also have a lot of help from our families who basically queue up to mind him.“
Her friends including Rosie Connolly and Louise Cooney shared their condolences on Sinead’s post.
“Absolutely heartbroken for you and the family life is so cruel One things for sure he left an amazing mark on the world & he’ll live on in you & your amazing family. Love you so much. He is so proud of you,“ Louise wrote.
“Sinead, I am so sorry. It is utterly shit. Much love to your whole family,“ Muireann O’Connell commented.
“My heart is broken for you and your family… sending you all so much love,“ Rosie Connolly told her friend.
