Erica Cody is back on the scene.
The musician took some time away from the spotlight to find herself again after a lot of changes in 2023.
She’s returned to the scene with new music, a new brand and a new outlook in life.
We caught up with Erica at the Platinum VIP Style Awards launch this month…

Hi Erica! Long time, no see. How are you?
I’m great, I’m very busy.
Oh we’ve seen how busy you are! Tell us what’s kept you busy?
Obviously, lots and lots of music. For the rest of this year, it will all be music. I’ll have lots and lots of singles – the next one is coming very, very soon! But in the midst of all that, I’m also doing Rally Grl, building the brand and getting all the drops ready for summer. Expect to see that very soon. It’s not just a brand, it’s more of a lifestyle. It’s a community for women. I want to create nights for women in Dublin as well. Especially nowadays we need to be supported by one another more than ever. So that’s been my ethos for Rally Grl.
So Rally Grl is a brand…
People keep asking me if I’m Rally Grl now. Technically, but no. There were talks of doing a full rebrand but Rally Grl is bigger than me. I want everyone to feel included. I want everyone to be a part of it. It’s been great making it its own thing.

Where did Rally Grl come from?
At the end of 2023, I had just gone through a breakup, my dog had died, I ended my professional relationships, and I ended up doing Eurosong. I felt like I was on a train of resilience. Come the end of Eurosong, I knew I needed to take a break. I had been building my brand and career for the last eight years. I had been taking that super seriously and taking myself super seriously. I owed it to myself to have a hot girl summer. I wanted to live and let live and not take life too seriously. I just wanted to have a great, fun summer with my girls. And I had a great summer! I came back as a lovergirl trying to navigate the f**kboy era. I had a collection of songs that I had written over the year of being single and figuring that out. I was just going from one thing to the next. My friends said, “You just know how to rally from one thing to the next. Whether it’s out clubbing or getting people up or rallying through breakups.” I put “Rally Girl” down in my phone because I was working on an EP. And I wanted to put out merch with the EP. But then I realised that I finally had a story to tell with a brand. I wanted to create something for women and girls. So that’s where it came from. I stayed up until 3am one night. I had “Rally Girl” on my phone, and I knew that was the name. And that’s how Rally Grl was born. I have my own indie label now, Rally Grl Records, where I release my own music. That’s where it was born. It’s all go!
That’s so exciting, Erica!
I think it’s going to be great. I don’t see a lot of collectives for women in the creative scene in Ireland. So I wanted to put my own twist on it. The clothes were the hardest part and I’m so proud of them. I was working on them for the longest time. I’ve had the vision and I’ve had the ideas, but I’ve never had the story to tell!
