Amanda Byram has opened up about her struggles with dieting in the past.
The TV presenter is in incredible shape but says that she wasted time on ‘useless faddy diets’.
“I spent years yo-yo dieting, trying every diet under the sun,” the star exclusively told VIP Magazine
She went on to explain the dangers of being obsessed with dieting.
“There are so many mixed messages, confusing stories and useless faddy diets out there. I keep telling people that diets DO NOT WORK, lifestyles do.
“I became so caught up in the vicious circle of dieting and body image that I was destroying not just my metabolism, but my body image, self-worth and mental health too.”
The 44-year-old also explained how she managed to achieve her fitness goals after ditching the dodgy diets.
“I took back control of my body by studying proper nutrition and exercise in my late 30’s because I knew I was turning 40 and I needed to learn how to obtain balance in my life.
“At 44 I am so mindful of my precious time on this earth. I know now that I would rather be healthy, which ultimately leads to being the correct body shape anyway, but irrespective of that – be HAPPY. Like most people, I am on a constant journey and I’m learning every day.”
She went on to discuss the pressure on women to juggle everything.
“As women – we are trying to do it all. We want to be career women while being the best mothers, wives, girlfriends, daughters and on top of it all, we want to be in top physical shape. It’s exhausting and we need to give ourselves a break!”
