Ben Foden has opened up about the breakdown of his relationship with ex-wife Una Healy. At the time, there were rumours that the rugby star had been unfaithful in his marriage, which lead to their split.
Now, Ben says that four years later he still receives hate from online trolls, but says that it’s not something he allows to get under his skin as the love from the people around him is the most important thing in his life.
Admitting that he has made mistakes in the past and is still paying for them now, he told RSVP Live:
“I have made mistakes in the past, we all have, and I pay the price with getting hate and being trolled sometimes”
“We live in a time where everyone is very accessible and everyone is critiquing”
“If someone comments on my photos, they are entitled to their opinion. As long as my loved ones and those I am close to have my back, that is all that matters”
Ben went on to say that he doesn’t have an issue with being trolled online often responding to the hate he receives. However, he doesn’t like when his family becomes involved with the intention to defend him. He says that this
“If there is a comment that doesn’t sit well with me, whether it is a personal comment or one attacking my kids, I will call the person out and talk to them”
“The only time I do get annoyed is when Jackie, my mum or my brother jump in and try to defend me”
“I have had a lot of conversations with people over the years who have shown hate to me and they retracted what they said or deleted their comment. It is all about educating people and I want to be a person who is positive”
