It’s Hozier’s world and we’re just living in it.
The Bray man has gone from strength to strength over the course of his career.
And now he has joined an elite few as he becomes the fourth Irish artist to top the American Billboard charts.
He is the first Irish artist since Sinéad O’Connor, and only the fourth Irish artist ever, to have a No 1 in the US on the Billboard 100 song charts.
His album Too Sweet has hit number one in the States just three weeks since it debuted at number five!
It has been 34 years since Sinéad’s number one in the States with Nothing Compares 2 U. In 1972 Gilbert O’Sullivan landed Ireland’s first ever number one across the pond and U2 nabbed one in 1987.
In a message posted on his Instagram, Hozier said: “I’m taken massively surprised by it. I just want to thank you so so much for your support. I’m so thrilled that you’re enjoying ‘Too Sweet’ and it means the world to me.”

With over 3.2 Million Irish streams to date on Too Sweet, it has remained at the top of the Irish Singles Chart for a second consecutive week and has now also been certified Double Platinum in Ireland.
In August last year Hozier scored his third consecutive Irish #1 and his first ever UK number 1 with that very third studio album Unreal Unearth!
G’wan Hozier!
