Hollywood actress, Minnie Driver reveals her joy at returning to Ireland; “I feel it’s a sense of coming home”

Minnie Driver has revealed how excited she is to be returning to Ireland as she begins work on a new project. The Hollywood actress was shooting here before, in the much loved adaptation of Maeve Binchy’s Circle of Friends.

The 51-year-old star played the leading role of Benny in the 1995 adaptation of the novel and loved her time here shooting the film.

Now, as she returns to film something new she’s shared how happy she is to be back on the Emerald Isle; “I love Ireland, I think it must be that there’s something there for me.”

Continuing the actress said; “I feel it’s a sense of coming home, but it’s really just a sense of connection. It’s so evocative of a time that I was so happy, and that’s never changed.”

Before Minnie began shooting her new project she had to quarantine for two weeks and did so whilst staying in the Wicklow Mountains which she said was; “one of the happiest times.”

The star is here to shoot for season two of Modern Love. The Amazon Prime show is based on the New York Times column of the same name.

Minnie will be playing remarried widow, called Stephanie Curran in the series.

It’s been a while since we last rewatched Circle of Friends, but it now seems like the perfect thing to watch on this rainy afternoon….
