You might imagine that being one of the top models in the country would mean becoming somewhat of a dating pro – but Holly Carpenter insists this is definitely not the case for her.
Although we find it hard to believe that the former Britain & Ireland’s Top Model contestant isn’t constantly bombarded by gentleman callers, Holly says men nowadays seem “intimidated” by approaching women.
And the gorgeous 23-year-old says that although she gives off an air of confidence, when it comes to dating, she feels like she is clueless.
Single Holly split from rugby ace Cian Healy over a year ago and admits she hasn’t met anyone since.
She poked fun at herself in a recent blog post on hollycarpenterblog.ie, entitled ‘What girls really mean on Snapchat‘, which struck a chord with guys – and girls! – across the globe.
In fact, a shocked Holly couldn’t believe it when the post went viral – it was shared on numerous international sites, including lads mag Playboy, which earned her fans worldwide.
And the former Miss Ireland says this has caused her to add ‘agony aunt’ to her CV, although she doesn’t feel fully qualified.
“It’s funny because so many people have come to me asking me for advice but it’s almost like the blind leading the blind because I am no expert,” she admitted.
The model continued: “I think guys these days are intimidated by girls, they don’t really know whether to ask them out or not but people need to go for it more and not worry about what other people think.”
And for any guys considering approaching Holly if they spot her on a night out? How exactly do they woo her?
“I don’t have a type but I like really masculine guys who are protective and gentlemanly,” she revealed.
“I’m not really into overly groomed guys. I like guys who have the craic and a bit of banter and don’t take themselves too seriously.
“That’s usually my tactic – if I see a guy I like on a night out I will usually start talking to them, throw in a few weird jokes and see if they laugh. But if they are dry then I’ll just leave.”
