“He’s growing up so fast”: Stephen and Kylee Vincent on baby Lando

Stephen and Kylee Vincent are busy out this summer with their son, Lando, as well as renovating their dance school in Belfast.

The South African and Manchester-born dancers have settled in County Down, and Kylee tells us at the Platinum VIP Style Awards that they are “absolutely loving life in Ireland”.

“We found a really quiet little place in a country town, which we really need with the busy life that we live. It’s just so nice to get away for the peace and quiet,” she gushes.

While Stephen adds: “But we’re close enough to everything, it’s brilliant. Dublin’s like around the corner compared to what we’re used to with travelling and stuff. It’s so cool. We definitely feel like this is home now for sure.”

Of course, 15-month-old Lando is keeping them busy with Stephen joking that he’s “mental”.

Proud mama Kyle says: “He’s doing so well. He’s growing up so fast. The things that he’s doing now…I just wish he would slow down just a little bit, but he’s doing really well.”

While Stephen adds he “loves dancing”, joking: “He’s better than me.”

Summer isn’t going to be any calmer for the couple as they are currently working on getting their dance studio open for June. So they’re swapping sequin for hard hats.

“We’re currently busy with renovations, so fingers crossed, we’re hoping to open at the beginning of June. So, it’s all going really well, and we’re enjoying the process.”

They have big aspirations for the studio, as Stephen explains that there isn’t a lot of classes for Ballroom Latin in Belfast. So they’re hoping to intice people into their classes. And who wouldn’t want to be taught by Dancing with the Stars pros?

“There’s loads of dance up there, but we want to bring that to the area. So it’s really exciting. We’ve got a lot of interest as well, and hopefully we’ll get a bit more.

“It’s going really well and it’s exciting. But it’s stressful, stressful! I’ve aged about 10 years, but it’s brilliant,” he laughs, before joking:  “And Lando is literally swinging around a hammer.”

Kylee says it’s a great way to balance their lives after spending the first part of the year on Dancing with the Stars. This year Kylee was paired up with comedian, Michael Fry, unfortuantely they were the first duo to be eliminated. Meanwhile, Stephen danced with Niamh Kavanagh.

“We really enjoy Dancing with the Stars, but it’s completely different to teaching in the studio, so it’s nice to have that balance of being on TV with a celebrity, all that pressure for them and guiding them through it,” she shares.

“And then the other end, where we get to have fun and just teach and enjoy.”
