The Late Late Show will celebrate Finbar Furey’s 70th year with a host of celebrity guests and special performances this week.

Finbar is one of Ireland’s most beloved musicians, and to mark his 70th birthday he will be joining Ryan Tubridy on The Late Late Show this Friday night to discuss his long and varied career that has seen him do everything from perform on Top of the Pops to appearing in Martin Scorsese’s Gangs of New York.

He will be joined by friends who want to pay tribute to him including Republic of Ireland manager Martin O’Neill, Aslan frontman Christy Dignam and Hollywood actor Patrick Bergin. Finbar will also be treating viewers to a mixture of classics, new recordings and a unique duet with Sharon Shannon.

Also on this week’s show will be transgender teen David Beattie, who is currently in the process of transitioning to female. He  still identifies as David, and he will be on this week’s show to chat about how watching a Caitlyn Jenner documentary helped him realise his true self.

He’ll also be telling Ryan how he’s being supported by those closest to him during his transition, what his next step will be and what it’s like looking for love as a transgender person.

As tomorrow marks the day of Donald Trump’s inauguration as the 45th president of the United Sates of America, behavioural psychologist Dr Peter Collett will put the billionaire politician’s body language under the spotlight. We’ll be finding out what Trump is really thinking. Comedian Oliver Callan will also be stopping by to make the presidential address that Trump secretly wanted to deliver…

Supermac’s founder Pat McDonagh will be sharing how he turned his Irish chipper into a €116 million business. He’ll also be telling viewers about his latest legal battle with global fastfood giant McDonalds, and why being based outside of the capital was no barrier to his success.

After time constraints meant she couldn’t perform last week, harpist Lisa Canny will be back with a very special performance.
