Kathleen Watkins has provided a health update about her husband Gay Byrne.
Gay was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2016 and has been undergoing treatment.
His wife revealed that the broadcaster is doing well following chemotherapy.
She revealed the 83-year-old recently finished a chemo session and is due for a check-up.
“He is finished the chemo that they added in, so he is recovering from that,” Kathleen said, who has been married to Gay for 54 years.
“The results were very good,” she told the Independent.
During the summer Gay told the Sun the doctors revealed he was ‘making progress’.
“You turn from good-humoured to bad humoured but that’s just the way it is. I am coping at the moment and what happens, happens.
“I have checks all the time and the doctors tell me I’m making progress. I believe them. I have to believe them because I’m looking better.”
