It pretty much goes without saying, we will support any movie that features one of our own, which leads us to the first look at Jessie Buckley’s new movie!
Yes, the Irish actress will star alongside the brilliant Olivia Colman in Wicked Little Lies, a film that revolves around a mystery in the English seaside town of Littlehampton in the 1920s.
The official synopsis reads: “Fiery Rose Gooding (Jessie Buckley) has little in common with the pious Edith Swan (Olivia Colman) aside from them being neighbours in the seaside town of Littlehampton in the 1920s.
“But one day, Edith and others in the town start receiving scandalous letters written with foul language as eccentric as it is obscene, and the finger of suspicion immediately falls on Rose.

“As Rose stands to lose her freedom and the custody of her daughter, and outrageous letters continue to blight the town, police officer Gladys Moss (Anjana Vasan) begins to suspect something is amiss.
“Together with a group of resourceful women, Gladys endeavours to solve the mystery, liberate Rose, and catch the real culprit…”
Based on a true story, the film is directed by Thea Sharrock ( Me Before You) and is set for its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
Jessie first got her big break on screen back in 2018, in the film Wild Rose.
She has been lauded for her role as Sally Bowles in Carabet from 2021 to 2022 on the West End, where she starred alongside Eddie Redmayne.
However, if you have been following Jessie for some time now you will remember that she began her career in 2008 as a contestant on the BBC TV talent show I’d Do Anything, in which she came second. This was a singing and acting competition to see who would play Nancy in the West End’s production of Oliver.
Wicked Little Letters is set to release in Irish cinemas on February 23rd 2024.
