Fair City’s Ryan Andrews says he’s excited to get back into auditioning

The Fair City actor said he took some time to organise his life in 2020 but is now ready to get back into the acting world.

Ryan is best known for playing Sean Cassidy in Fair City since he was a teen.

Speaking to The Irish Daily Mail Ryan explained how he took some time to work on his personal life in the last year, which held him back from going for roles in the upcoming big projects that are being filmed in Ireland.

“It’s brilliant, even with Disenchanted, a lot of the dancers that were my friends who I grew up with, performers, and it never bothers me whether I am in it or not…I just love the fact that people that you know and respect so much and have put their whole lives into this industry are able to work whether it is camera crew, mic men, I’ve worked with them, and you just want everyone to be happy and working, it doesn’t necessarily have to be you,” he said.

“In the last year I kind of took a step back from all of that to focus on getting the house, stage school, the panto, the drive in Park N Party, and said I want to work on me and my businesses and how I can push myself,” he continued.

“Because ultimately there are times, and it has happened before, where I’ve gone for certain things, and I’ve taken a long time out, and you’d be a week filming somewhere, and it means you have to cancel two or three things elsewhere…And I did it all the way up.

“But in the last year or so I said I need to get myself sorted and everything in place.

“Hopefully now everything is in place and I can start getting back on the audition scenes and into other stuff which I’m actually really excited about,” he said.

He shared his excitement about being in a tense storyline at the moment on Fair City, “We go to a read through every Monday morning, and we hear the scripts being read for the first time…And some people have like the court case with Cristiano and Will, and I am going ‘ah yeah, like a fan, that’s good, give me some of that'”.

“I’m actually back on air at the moment and for the next couple of weeks and I am involved in a storyline that gets really heated and tension builds up over the next two weeks…And I was delighted to be a part of it, and it is actually really good,” he said.
