Tv host Melinda Messenger, best known for Channel 5 show ‘Cowboy Builders’, has told VIP that her rise to stardom has not exactly been easy.
The former model, who has also featured on Celebrity Big Brother, Dancing on Ice and even most recently The Jump, revealed that her job hasn’t always been glam.
When asked what her least favourite job out her varied career has been, she told us: “When I was 16 I had a Saturday job at the Co-op and I didn’t enjoy stacking shelves at all.
“One day, a group of drunken guys came in after being in the local pub and in a bizarre Swindon mating ritual, walloped me over the head with a French stick!” Yep, sounds pretty awful to us…
Melinda also disclosed that her career could have taken a hugely different turn, if she hadn’t turned down a film role with Tom Cruise – a move she has lived to regret.
“I was offered a deal with Warner Brothers to launch my acting career but panicked about being too famous so I turned it down. I might give him a call to see if he is still interested!” she said.
The 45-year-old is in Dublin this weekend, where she will be promoting the permanent tsb Ideal Home Show.
Held from Friday April 15th until Sunday 17th at the RDS Simmonscourt Dublin, Melinda will be offering advice on how to avoid a cowboy builder, discussing her new book Odd Job Women and she will be speaking at a number of stands around the event.
