Tv presenter Eamonn Holmes returned to ITV’s This Morning to offer moral support to his wife and co-presenter Ruth Langsford following the death of agony aunt Denise Robertson.
The pair led tributes to the 83-year-old ITV legend who sadly passed away this morning following a short battle with pancreatic cancer.
Eamon returned to the morning programme for the first time since his double hip replacement. He announced the tragic news on air saying: “Our beloved Denise Robertson has lost her battle with cancer”, while Ruth added “it’s a difficult day for us.”
Denise joined the show ten years ago and has been popular with fans ever since. She announced in February that she had gotten a shock diagnosis of cancer, and would be undergoing treatment for it. In a statement read out on This morning Denise thanked fans, and hoped that to return to the This Morning sofa again soon.
“I’d like to thank all the lovely viewers of This Morning who have been concerned about my health recently and I hope I’ll be back on the sofa soon.”
Sadly, this was not to be the case. Denise is survived by her husband and only son. May she Rest in Peace.
