Aishah Akorede took to the Dancing with the Stars floor on Sunday night and wowed the judges and viewers at home.

Her Quickstep earned her a score of 29 from the judging panel. While she has a background in ballet, Aishah admits that she is definitely not a dancer.

Hinting to VIP Magazine about her dance this week she tells us: “All my girls are going to be like, ‘Aishah is dancing a salsa on the dancefloor?’. When we go out on nights out, I’ll always be like, ‘You go and dance, I’ll sit here and watch.’ I’m hoping after this dance, I’ll be the one with the confidence to say let’s get on the dancefloor.”

It’s safe to say that she has wowed the judges, but she also has an “amazing” support system, from family to friends, she promises that she’ll have someone cheering her on every week.

“I’ve always had a really big support system. I’ve had lots of positive feedback from my colleagues where I used to do accountancy, the Miss Universe girls I competed with, they’re coming next week to watch the show live,” she explains.

“My cousins, my aunties, my uncles, everyone is calling me every day! Everyone is being so supportive. The Kildare community as well! Everyone is just so kind. I’m so grateful for it because I know a lot of people lack this kind of support.”

This isn’t her first stint on reality TV as she previously starred on the UK version of Beauty and the Geek, that she and her partner went on to win.

“A lot of the girls from Beauty and the Geek are going to come and watch the show on week four if I’m still in it,” she tells us.

But possibly one of the most important person in her corner, is her boyfriend, Kamsi

“I am in a relationship with the most wonderful man in the whole wide world. He was there last week! He’s literally the most supportive person on the planet. When I started doing the lifts it was very hard. I asked him to help me with the lifts,” she enthuses.

As a beauty pageant contestant, she’s used to competing, but Aishah promises that she’s not too competitive.

“I enjoy the growth of the journey. You learn more from your mistakes. I’m more excited for the journey. I don’t want to say I’m not in it to win it, I do want to win it! I really, really want this a lot more. I’m ready to turn it up a notch honestly.”

Dancing with the Stars continues on RTÉ One on Sunday at 6:30pm
