Drivetime’s David O’Reilly confirms 2FM departure

Lottie Ryan confirmed this week that she would be stepping back from the mic on Drivetime.

She explained that her turn on the show was just for a five-week stint.

“The term ‘summer schedule’ has led to some confusion, implying a 12-week duration,” she explained.

“To clarify – the plan was always for a short-term cover, and I knew this from the start. The phrase ‘summer schedule’ has led to all this confusion. I’m not going anywhere and am very much part of 2FM.”

Now her co-host, David O’Reilly, has also announced that he will be finishing up after five weeks on air.

He reposted Lottie’s statement on social media and added: “I love @lottieryan1! I love the entire team @RTÉ2FM and am so proud to be part of it. Getting asked to do Drive for five weeks was the greatest opportunity and one I’m so grateful for.”

There has been no confirmation about who will be taking on the role full-time after the five weeks are up in July.

Rumours have swirled that TikTok star Kayleigh Trappe, who is best known for her lipsync comedy, will be taking on the Drivetime slot in the coming weeks.

However, no confirmation has been made.
