Ed Sheeran sent fans into a frenzy this week with an Instagram post which confused some people.
The star is in the middle of promoting his third album ÷, by releasing singles and performing on tour.
This didn’t stop fans from getting a fright after quickly reading his latest social media post.
The Perfect singer posted a screenshot of a message about taking time off.
“Hello all. I’m taking a break from my phone, emails and all social media for a while,” the British singer, 24, wrote. “I’ve had such an amazing ride over the last 5 years but I find myself seeing the world through a screen and not my eyes so I’m taking this opportunity of me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and see everything I missed.
“To my family and friends that if you love me you will understand me buggering off for a bit, to my fans, the third album is on the way and is the best thing I have made thus far.
“See you all next autumn, and thank you for being amazing.”
However, what some fans failed to see was his caption which read: “2 years since I ditched my phone x.”
The photo was, in fact, a throwback to December 2015 when the star decided to do a social media detox.
This didn’t stop fans from freaking out a little…
“I will miss u so much,” one fan said, adding crying emojis.
Another added: “It will be so difficult!”
Others, who missed the fact that it was a throwback, wished him well on his break away.
“You deserve break and I love you I hope your days are always wonderful,” one supportive fan said.
“Will miss you Ed but understand you need a break can’t wait your come back,” another said.
We’re glad Ed’s not going anywhere!
