Donal Skehan made the most of summer heading on a sunny French getaway.
The celebrity chef travelled to the French Riviera with his wife Sophie and sons Noah and Ollie.
Keeping followers updates on social media, Donal confessed the break was well needed as he and Sophie have been in the depth of renovations to their new home for the past few months.
“French summer dreams! Cooking up lots of simple dishes with Provençal market ingredients. After all the house move fun and the remodeling craic, we are soaking this up!” he told followers as they started their trip.
The family got to celebrate France’s national holiday, Bastille Day, in the country with Donal cooking some traditional French dishes to celebrate.
Making the likes of Peach Bellinis, Grand Aïoli with crudités, pickled cucumber platter, tomato mountain with EVOO with lots of fleur de sel, baby gem and red endive salad, salmon with sweet confit cherry tomatoes with basil and garlic and other local delicacies.
And it seems their trip to the country famous for its culinary skill has peaked his sons interest in food.
Joking: “A night in Antibes with the city’s newest and youngest food critic duo! The skehan bros- like the Mitchel bros from East Enders but more about the food and less about the violence!”
The family arrived back in Dublin this weekend, and were greeted with an Irish welcome of rain.
Making their arrival even more hectic was the loss of their luggage, but those holiday highs made sure the mood didn’t damper.
“That’s a wrap on France! Jaysus just got home, lost a bag, delays in the airport and it’s bloomin’ miserable, but we are home and the house & kitchen is finished- Been such a lovely break in France while the last bits of the house were being finished forgot we’d been living in the madness but we are so ready to start making the new house a home!” Donal wrote as they settled back into home life.
