Doireann Garrihy is set to bid farewell to 2FM this week after five years with the station.
She announced earlier this month that she would be finishing up with the breakfast show on May 31st.
Speaking about her decision to leave the station, she grew teary-eyed.
“I can’t believe it. I can’t believe it’s my last Sunday night before… anyway! Everything is like the last — the last Sunday; the last Monday, whatever,” she said on Instagram as she headed out on a dog walk.
She also discussed her departure on her podcast, Doireann and Friends.
“I don’t want to go there because there’s nothing worse than a blubbering radio presenter so I’m going to try my best to hold it together on Friday.”
She went on to thank those who have listened to her over the years, saying: “I’m going to miss you so much. The listeners are what makes it…The listeners are what makes it. I’m such a loser, half-crying on my own here.”
She admitted that it is “time to move on”.
“My gut has never sent me wrong before, be it career stuff [or] personal life stuff — whatever. It’s never set me wrong and I’ve always used it as a guide. Here we go. New chapter. New venture,” she said.
