David Whelan is the frontman of Wild Youth.
He has represented Ireland at Eurovision. He’s no stranger to performing in front of a crowded room.
But not even Eurovision could compare to the pressure of Dancing with the Stars.
Speaking to VIP Magazine, he tells us that it’s the “most stressful” thing he’s ever done! That includes the literal Eurovision – did we mention that?
“It’s the most stressful thing I’ve ever done. When I’m on stage performing with a mic and a guitar, that’s my comfort zone,” he tells us with a nod.
“I feel very at ease and controlled up there, I can use that surge of energy and that surge of adrenaline in my comfort zone. When it comes to this, I haven’t been able to control it.
“I was so nervous before this, I can’t even describe it. I wanted to get sick. But I was on a high after it.”
But he definitely went down a treat! He received a score of 23 with Brian and Loraine awarding him seven and Arthur went all out with a nine.
“I was shocked that we got the reaction we got,” he confessed.
Ah, David, you were such a star!
