Dáithí Ó Sé had a very busy week, introducing 33 Roses to the world on stage at the Dome in Tralee after a three-year hiatus.
In fact, he’s barely gotten a chance to sit down all summer.
Now that he’s back home in Galway, Dáithí is taking some well-deserved “Dáithí time”, with the presenter telling VIP Magazine that he finally has three weeks of downtime.
“Dáithí time starts on Wednesday. I’m not doing anything for a couple of weeks,” he tells us over the phone.
“I’ve been working for most of the summer. I had a few weeks off sporadically but I have about three weeks off before I go back on The Today Show. I like being off in September, people are back to work and schools are back.”
His own son, eight-year-old Micheál Óg is heading into third class and Dáithí adds that he’s “very excited” about the whole thing.
“He’s going into third class, time is going so quickly. It’s a very exciting time for him, in his school he’s going into the bigger class,” he tells us.
While Micheál is back to school, Dáithí will be taking some time to do absolutely nothing.
“It gives me a bit of time to be out in the garden and have some fun out there. I have no real interest in going anywhere. I just want to go out into the garden and relax and take it easy. That’s my plan anyway, whether my plan works or not, I don’t know.”
Clearly, he’s a big fan of the garden, we joke about his stereotypical dad-love for cutting the grass. In fact, he admits that after the call ends he’ll be heading straight out to mow the lawn. “It’s due to rain,” he tells us of his plans.
So, less relaxing than we thought! But whatever makes him happy!
