Yes, Cillian Murphy landed his first Oscar nomination this week.
And we couldn’t be more proud of the Cork man.
His dad Breandán, however, despite being thrilled for his son, wanted to make sure the nomination wasn’t going to poor Cillian’s head.

Instead, Breandán who worked for the Department of Education compared Cillan’s success to every other child’s job…awh!
Speaking to Helen Ní Shé on RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta he said: “He’s got a job like the sons and daughters of other people, and the difference – he gets a lot of publicity.
“All the same, we’re so happy from him and pleased.”
He also added that he didn’t want to say that he’s proud of his son “because it’s his achievement, not ours.”
So how did Cillian himself celebrate his nomination?
Only by eating a slice of cake and having a cuppa tea in his parent’s house.
“My mom made a sponge cake. It was very tasty,” he told Variety.
Yep, we don’t take fame is getting to this actor’s head!
