Charlie Bird has shared that his “health has changed dramatically” as he issues health update ahead of the holidays.
The former RTE journalist even admitted that he didn’t think he would see Christmas.
Charlie was diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease in October 2021 and since then he has been sharing updates with followers about his condition.
Just earlier this year, he confirmed that his condition was “changing fast”.
This time last year I said I didn’t think I would see this Christmas. Thankfully I am still around and that is because of the support and kindness I have received from people all around the country.Yes my health has changed dramatically. I am wheelchair dependent now and tube fed

Now he has once again taken to social media to fill his followers in on how he’s doing.
“This time last year I said I didn’t think I would see this Christmas,” he wrote on X.
“Thankfully I am still around and that is because of the support and kindness I have received from people all around the country.
“Yes, my health has changed dramatically. I am wheelchair dependent now and tube fed.”
This comes after the 74-year-old recently marked two years since he was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
Since his diagnosis, Charlie has now also shared what he would like to happen after he passes away.
“Hi everyone, I want to make a direct appeal to everyone who supports climbwithcharlie, when I pass,” he previously shared to his social media.
“Please help my lovely wife Claire and Tiger to continue the work of extending the hand of friendship to people in dark places and the charities I support.
“I really love you all,” he concluded.
