How could we possibly go on without Ryan?
Of course, talk quickly turned to who would replace him.
From Miriam O’Callaghan to Tommy Tiernan plenty of names had been bandied around. Could it be Carl Mullan?
“The Late Late Show? Wow! I think it’s anyone’s dream gig,” he tells VIP Magazine when the topic is brought up.
He goes on to tell us: “I was shocked at the news from Ryan. He has been an incredible ambassador for that role and what he’s done with The Late Late Show. He’s really set the mark for whoever comes in there next.”
But would he take on the job?
“If the opportunity came up I wouldn’t say no,” he laughs.
“But I think I’m still too much in the infancy of my career to go for a job like that. That’s the truth of it. There’s hopefully a lot of other opportunities that will come my way. There’s a lot of more qualified people to do that job.”
He quickly adds: “I’m not saying I wouldn’t do it! I think I have a lot more experience to gain before doing a job like that. Whilst I would love to do it, I think I have a few years to go.”
Who do you think will get The Late Late presenting gig?
