Niall Horan is making the most of his break from One Direction, and last night headed along to the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards to support his close pal, Rory McIlroy.
The pair have become great pals over recent months, regularly spotted out golfing together, but last night chose to change things up a little and headed along to a lavish black tie event.
The awards took place in Belfast, and as both men are home for Christmas, jumped at the chance to meet up.
Niall will be spending the festive period in Mullingar with his family, while Rory will be spending Christmas with his family and fiancé Erica Stoll in Co. Down.
A close source recently told the Irish Independent, “Despite his lifestyle, Rory’s a real home bird and is very close to his parents Rosie and Gerry, and always makes sure to get a few days off at Christmas to see them in Ireland.”
Rory also recently revealed that his parents are over the moon with the news of his engagement: “We are excited, our parents are excited, so it is a really nice time.”
We’re sure it’ll be a great Christmas in the McIlroy household!
