There were a lot of celebrations had in 2016. Some of our favourite Irish celebs got engaged, tied the knot, and some even expanded their families. No matter what they raised their glasses to, they certainly made headlines.
Next year we’re ready for even more magical moments, with a few significant ones already on our horizon.
Weddings
1. Baz Ashmawy and Tanja Evans
These two love birds have been engaged since 2015, and while they haven’t let us in on their wedding date yet, we have a sneaky suspicion that it’s happening soon. Baz exclusively told VIP Magazine about his surprise New Year’s plans this year saying, “New years will be spent with my Mrs. I can’t tell you where, as it’s a surprise.” Do we hear wedding bells?
2. Johnny McDaid and Courteney Cox
Back in April Johnny McDaid and Courteney Cox fast tracked their wedding plans. The couple got engaged in 2015, and after a brief split, they’re firmly back on track. The a-list couple even looked at Castle Leslie as a possible wedding location and reportedly have Ed Sheeran set to provide the music. We can’t wait for these nuptials!
3. Peter O’Riordan and Stephanie Evans
Former Xpose presenter Peter O’Riordan is set to wed his longterm love, and wife for a second time soon. The pair are already legally married but are now set to have a lavish affair. Earlier this year Peter told VIP Magazine, “We have always been legally married. We have a domestic partnership and now we are doing the ceremony, the dress, everything this princess deserves.” We’re not sure the date of the union just yet, but we already can’t wait to see the dress!
Babies
1. Stephanie Davis
After a whirlwind romance with Irish model Jeremy McConnell, a shock pregnancy announcement and a tumultuous nine months, Stephanie Davis is almost ready to give birth. The former Celebrity Big Brother star is reportedly carrying Jeremy’s child, but he’s adamant that he’s not the father. He has said however, that he will take a paternity test once the baby is born. Steph is nearing the end of her pregnancy, so not long to wait until we find out.
2. Conor McGregor and Dee Devlin
Just last month Conor McGregor announced that himself and his girlfriend Dee are expecting their first baby. The Crumlin native revealed the exciting news at his post-fight press conference in New York City by saying, “I’ve a few announcements, one announcement is that I’m going to be a daddy early next year.” We’re unsure of Dee’s due date but it will be early in the New Year.
3. Jonathan Rhys Myers
Vikings star Jonathan Rhys Myers is expecting his first child with fiance Mara Lane. The couple have been engaged since 2014 and speculation has arisen about whether they got married in secret. Either way they’re set for an exciting 2017 with the birth of their first child, and they’re thankful to have been granted such a gift.
