Dancing with the Stars viewers were left devastated when the dance-off on Sunday saw Philip Doyle and Tolü Makay go head to head.
Tolü had received a perfect score from the judges before she ultimately had to dance for her space in the competition against the Olympic rower.
Now, Arthur Gourounlian has opened up about the shock elimination.
Speaking to VIP Magazine, he said: “Every day on a daily basis I meet people who come up to me and say the wrong person went home. And I always say to them, ‘Did you vote?’ and they’re like, ‘No, but I love the show’.

“There’s nothing I can say, you have to pick up the phone and vote for the best dancer. Sometimes people vote for the person they want to see on TV.”
He went on to say: “Firstly, it’s an entertainment show, so it’s very hard to predict who is going to be in the dance-off. It’s very hard to tell. It was heartbreaking to see Tolü and Philip there.”
He gushed about Tolü, who danced up a storm on Sunday night.

“The way Tolu was doing all the moves and facial expressions was phenomenal. If I was casting dancers for Beyonce I would cast her tomorrow. That’s how incredible she was on Sunday night,” he added.
“She was the whole package, absolutely incredible.”
Dancing with the Stars continues on Sunday at 6:30pm on RTÉ One
