Aoibhin Garrihy has opened up about her husband John’s Everest expedition, and the tough conditions that he faces at the moment.
The couple flew to Nepal at the start of the month and Aoibhin stayed at Base Camp with her husband until he set off on the trek.
Although she is receiving updates from her hubby as often as he can, Aoibhin is still worried about the treacherous conditions he faces every day up there.
Speaking in the June issue of Irish Tatler Aoibhin said, “I stayed a night at Base Camp with John and all through the night you could hear the avalanches.
“It’s a really strange place to be honest, it doesn’t feel like humans should be there! But you can’t hold back the tide – if someone wants to do something you have to let them do it.
“I’m not going to be the witchy wife that says no, but at the same time, I’m sure he knows,” she said.
Providing that everything goes well for John, he should be home in June, just in time for his wife’s 30th birthday and they can really begin their life as husband and wife.
“Life begins at 30 – we can actually begin our marriage,” Aoibhin said.
