TV3 has announced some new changes for the autumn – most interestingly that the current Ireland AM format will be extended to run for a seven day schedule.
Weekend AM will be presented by TV3 darling Anna Daly, who has worked with the broadcaster for six years now, and she will be joined by Newstalk’s Ivan Yates for Saturday AM and actor Simon Delaney for Sunday AM.
Anna explained that she leaves Ireland AM on July 2 and will go live on the 29th, and said she’s hugely excited about the change.
“This is groundbreaking for Ireland,” Anna said.
“Irish television on a weekend morning right now is predominantly for children so we will have a very family focus, a lot of family-related issues.”
“Saturday will be more light-hearted, entertainment and gossip, while Sunday is more of an analysis of the Sunday papers, the big stories of the week – so more of a current affairs slant,” she told The Star.
A number of other projects were announced yesterday at Dublin’s Westbury Hotel: 48 Rugby World Cup matches will be exclusive to the station, and over 60 hours of Celebrity Big Brother will air later this year.
Furthermore, cooking show The Great Irish Menu, documentary strand Disclosure and House Rules are some of the new shows to première. Season 2 of Red Rock will also be returning.
