Amilia Stewart-Keating has opened up about the arrival of baby Reggie, revealing it was hard being away from her husband while in hospital.
Due to Covid-19, hospitals all across the country have had to implement new rules and cut down on visitors, meaning Amilia’s husband Conall could only be with his wife and newborn son for a very short period of time.
Speaking exclusively to VIP Magazine, Amilia told us, “I had Reggie in the Coombe and the staff were absolutely amazing.
“Conall was allowed in for my C-section and then they let him have some bonding time with Reggie while I was in the theatre.”
“We had an hour as a little family and then we said our goodbyes until I got home.
“It was so difficult being apart, especially for Conall but we knew it was for the best and we’d be all home together soon.”
Reunited at last, Amilia reveals Conall has taken to fatherhood like a duck to water.
“He has been such a hero. He is completely besotted with his son,” she beamed.
“He’s so eager and wants to be as hands-on as possible, which is a blessing. They watched their first Disney movie together yesterday, Big Hero 6. Reggie didn’t make it to the end of the film though,” she laughed.
The happy couple named little Reggie Thomas Karl Keating after their late friend, Karl Shiels.
The former Fair City star sadly passed away last year, and Amilia wanted to honour him and help keep his memory alive.
“Over the years Karl and his incredible partner Laura became like family to us,” she said.
“He couldn’t be our best man for the wedding so when we found out I was pregnant we knew Karl or Karla was going to be in the baby’s name to honour him. I can’t wait to tell Reggie all about him and how brilliant he really was.”
