It’s no surprise to anyone that Amanda Byram is a fitness fanatic and has a killer body to show for it. Although she lives a healthy lifestyle all year round, she’s now embarking on a new fitness journey, as she’s just been announced as the ambassador for the VHI Women’s Mini Marathon.
With just 14 weeks of training to go before the big day in June, the Dancing With The Stars presenter reveals that diet and nutrition are important aspects that Irish women must consider when embarking on a fitness and health regime.
Amanda also stated the one thing that women should cut down on if they want to see real changes in their body- alcohol. It’s not easy, but she saw major changes in her appearance when she did it.
“Cutting out alcohol is a big one, especially in Ireland. I think that it is something that can really affect your training process. It can exhaust you, it’s heavily laden with sugars so it gives you the high and then gives you the crash, so changing that in the run up to it is kind of key.
“I gave up alcohol a few years ago and it really helped my energy levels and my skin, I felt a lot changed. I had less cellulite, and everything kind of became clearer. I drink the odd time now but I just think everything in moderation.
“We set ourselves in this pattern, this cycle, and it’s a vicious cycle so we have a few drinks at the weekend and then you’re in a bit of a daze during the week and then you go again.
“And I’ve studied the effects of it from the physiological side, which is that your liver gets affected and your body processes the alcohol first, therefore it has no time to process the food that you’re eating, and it’s always going to be the burger and chips or the kebabs. And then that doesn’t get processed to it just turns to fat, and that’s why we get weight gain when we drink excessively.”
Definitely not an easy task, but if we’re going to look like Amanda Byram it would be worth it eh ladies?
