Amanda Byram has opened up about the possibility of motherhood, and has claimed she certainly wouldn’t rule it out.
The star once thought she left it too late to have children, but has since changed her mind on the idea.
Speaking to the Irish Independent’s Weekend Magazine, Amanda said, “I’m fit and healthy, so thankfully that’s not a huge issue. So who knows? What will be, will be.”
She didn’t always have such an optimistic view on these things, especially when it came down to her love life in general. The presenter had two long term relationships – one with Patrick Kielty, and another with a US cameraman – which left her deflated once they ended.
“I got to a point where I was 38 when I cancelled a wedding. I had been in these two big relationships that ended and to be honest with you, I was looking at being very single for a long time and beginning to think, ‘OK if this is how it’s going to be, maybe I’m not meant to be in a long-term relationship, maybe I need to accept this and treasure it.
“I believed I was never going to settle down with one guy. At this stage I was 40 and I thinking I had left it too late to have kids, left it too late to marry. You go out on these disastrous dates and think, ‘OK, there’s a chance I may be single forever.”
Her outlook changed dramatically though when he met her current boyfriend, Julian Okines, who she has now been with for almost two years.
“I feel lucky that I got to be in a place where I was happy being single, comfortable in my own company, because I think that made me ready, kid of relaxed enough to come out the other side of a very bad patch and meet somebody special. I remember thinking one day, ‘OK universe, I’m ready now,’ and then I met Julian.”
And the rest is history as they say…
