Just weeks before their big day, Alan Hughes and Karl Broderick have suffered a wedding disaster.
According to Alan, the hotel which was set to host the lavish ceremony had to cancel the booking, however the hotel have now insisted that this isn’t true.
Speaking to The Herald, Alan said, “We were going to do it in Malta and the hotel where we were going to do it was under renovation, but they found all these caves underneath so they cancelled all their weddings.
“Karl wanted to do it slightly different, so we found the Phoenicia Hotel. It’s closed down at the moment, but it looked stunning.
“We were all set, we were going to book it and then this happened.
“We just said, ‘It’s not meant to be’. Karl doesn’t want to do it here. He wants to do it away. He said , ‘You can’t beat the last one and we don’t want to do the same as the last one.’”
Despite the initial set-back, the hotel did say that there’s a slim possibility that they could be available for weddings by Alan’s big day, but that’s a chance he’s not willing to take.
“The hotel was like, ‘It’ll be open in September’, but imagine taking the chance and inviting everyone over and having them all book their flights – they might find more caves!
“It’s a pity, but it just doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. We might do it next year there, or somewhere else, but it’s getting on now.
“It’s a pity because he was so excited about it and looking forward to some winter sun.”
