Aidan O’Mahony has dedicated his Dancing with the Stars victory to his daughter Lucia, who was born just under three weeks ago.

The Kerry GAA star won the coveted glitter ball trophy on last night’s show, after beating off tough competition from Aobhin Garrihy and Denise McCormack.

Many viewers were unhappy with his win, as they believed Aobhin or Denise should have claimed the prize, but this didn’t dampen his spirits and he was overjoyed with his victory.

When asked who he dedicated the glitter ball to, he replied saying: “My little lady Lucia. Daddy will be home in two days time.”

Speaking after last night’s show, Aidan praised his dance partner Valeria Milova for helping him win the RTE show.

“For us and for me this week we were to come back and prove we were worthy to be in the final.” he told the Irish Mirror.

“I can’t thank her enough for the last 12 weeks. She pushed me, she pushed me and some weeks we nearly killed each other.

“But as I said from week one she definitely got the short straw because I know I’m very bad in front of the cameras and I was like a statue.

“When we finished the last dance the legs were about to cave. This week was a week where we were more relaxed.”
