Gerald Kean has opened up about his money troubles in his most candid interview to date.
The celebrity lawyer has admitted that he is in a huge amount of debt to several banks and although he’s making money at the moment, it all has to go straight back to the bank.
He told the Sunday Independent, “I would describe myself as broke. Well, I mean, I owe money. I am trying to repay it. I owe money to a couple of banks, but my main priority has been the Revenue.”
The 58-year-old revealed that he suffered heavily following the Celtic Tiger crash because of lavish property expenditure.
He said, “I paid too much for my house, and that was expensive. I paid too much for a townhouse, which I had to sell and lost.”
When questioned about the exact amount he owes to the bank, he replied saying, “It would be below €5million, you know, I mean I owe that money and I am trying (to pay it back).”
However, despite his money woes Gerald admits to eating out 19 times a week – 7 breakfasts, 7 lunches and 5 dinners. This lifestyle has not only proved damaging to his bank balance, but also to his waistline.
The socialite has said he is unhappy with his current weight and has decided to join this year’s Celebrity Operation Transformation with the hopes of shedding two and a half stone.
We can’t wait to see Gerald on the show!
