Al Porter has officially confirmed that he is on the cusp of signing a major deal with 2fm.
The comedian has revealed that he will be taking over from close pal, Colm Hayes who has announced he will be leaving the station.
The twenty three year old has opened up saying that preparations have already started taking place for the The Al Porter Show on 2fm.
He told The Evening Herald, “I’m in negotiations with 2fm. We’ve almost signed the contract.”
“I have been taught how to run a desk in the radio centre and I’ve been given lessons in radio presenting.
“Is it in preparation for my own show? Yes. There is a promo in RTE Radio Centre that says, The Al Porter Show on 2fm.”
However, Al is worried how the takeover will be perceived by fans, given Colm and Al’s friendship.
He said, “It sounds like I stabbed him in the back. It sounds bad”
“I wrote a piece about Colm where I said he gave me the best year of my life – which he absolutely did.
“Colm taught me how to shave. He did loads of really fatherly things with me. He taught me a lot about radio.”
Although we’ll miss Colm, We’ve no doubt Al will be a fitting replacement and will keep us laughing for hours!
