It will go down as one of the most memorable quotes in the fourteen years of the Peter Mark VIP Style Awards – the shy and reserved, ahem, Amanda Brunker shrieking: “A seagull just s**t in my hair!”
The tv personality was waltzing down the red carpet at the glamorous event when the very unglamorous incident happened – and made sure to noisily alert all of the nearby paps.
Our publisher, Michael O’Doherty, who has managed to avoid the cameras over the past 14 years at the ceremony, popped his red carpet photo cherry when he was snapped desperately trying to clean the nasty surprise from a hysterical Amanda’s blonde mane.
Speaking afterwards, MOD admitted that he probably dug a hole with the outspoken star, by telling her: “You can barely notice the difference!”
“It may be a small blessing, but the colour of the seagull’s bomb actually complemented her hair perfectly, which resulted in my answering Amanda’s desperate plea as to how bad it looked with the words: “Don’t worry, you can hardly tell the difference,” he wrote in his Irish Independent column today.
“In hindsight, that probably came out wrong, but at least it wasn’t as cruel as a text I received from a friend the next day who, not impressed by Amanda’s hysterics, wrote: “I owe that seagull a pint.”
He added: “There was, sadly, little I could do with a paper napkin and what I can only describe as a considerable deposit.”
Here in VIP Towers, we naturally find the entire incident wildly hilarious. Especially considering @artisticchicks have immortalised the drama in this very dinstinctive artwork….
