Aisling O’Loughlin has revealed that she’s moved to France with her children to where her ex-partner lives.
She and Nic MacInnes were together for six years and had three children together but split up in 2017.
The Clare woman explained that while the pair are not back together, she wanted their kids Patrick, Louis and Joseph to spend time in France.
“The kids are half French – Nic was born in Paris – and half the family are all French speakers. I’ve always wanted my kids to be bilingual, I think it’s a great gift to have, to have two languages perfectly,” she said.
Taking to Instagram she revealed: “It’s been a while since I’ve posted..sure wasn’t I only moving to France with the kids,”
“It’s time to figure out what the French side of the family is saying about us after all these years. Surely we’ve been misinterpreting those tuts and frowns?” she joked.
“So here we are, hiding in a cave, they really do speak French all the time. We’re getting there, time, effort and space required. And a cave.”
Aisling explained that as the children are quite young [two, four and six] it was a good time to give the move a go.
The former Xpose presenter and her partner are now living nearby but not together.
“We decided we could share a village – maybe not a house. So he’s nearby, it’s great. We share all the [parenting] duties.
“When I have to do a lion’s share of the work for a week or two, I always think of mum’s who really are doing it by themselves and I tip my hat to them. I have a lot of help with him.
“He’s a great daddy and always has been. We appreciate each other in that sense,” she revealed.
Aisling also admitted that she wasn’t 100 per cent sure about her decision to leave Ireland, which is why she kept quiet.
“I was going back and forth, thinking ‘Am I going to do this or not?’, that’s why I never really said anything,” she said.
“It was October when we made the final heave. Just thought ‘Let’s do it, let’s have an adventure’,” she told The Mirror.
