Aoibhin Garrihy has opened up about experincing mum shaming since welcoming her first child.
The former Fair City actress has a busy work life that she balances with being home with baby Hanorah, who she welcomed with husband John Burke in June 2018.
Now, the Clare woman is sharing her experience of being a working mum!
“People are always vocal when it comes to parenting, it’s mad,” the beauty told RSVP.
“I’ve never experienced anything like it really. You know best when it comes to your child, so I was surprised by that. Women should be more supportive.”
Aoibhin, who competed on Dancing With The Stars back in 2017, recently opened up about adjusting to life as a new mum, and how she turns to family for support.
Speaking exclusively to VIP Magazine about motherhood and life with the newborn, she said, “It takes a village. And I would be lost without the support. As a freelancer, you don’t have the luxury of maternity leave. We have drawn on family a lot.
“I get asked a lot, how do I juggle it all? The answer is, I don’t. Something always has to give. And you do have to make sacrifices. I think this idea of women having it all… maybe it’s a figment of our imagination.
“We’re all just winging it, just doing the best that we can. And yet parents can be very judgemental. That is the one thing that has taken me back. Everyone has an opinion.”
The 31-year-old recently shared a sweet tribute to her daughter, as she celebrated ‘nine months of craic.’
