‘Wish we could hug you’ Jedward share touching tribute to late mother

Jedward have shared an emotional tribute for their late mother, Susanna, on her birthday.

John and Edward lost their mum to cancer back in February 2019. Since then, the pop duo have kept their mother’s memory alive on social media, regularly sharing throwback snaps and kind words.

For her birthday they wrote alongside a childhood snap:

“Happy Birthday Mammy wish we could hug you now and tell you how much we love you”

The twins have spoken openly about their grief before, and just last month the two bravely shaved off their iconic quiffs all in aid to raise vital funds for the Irish Cancer Society.

Speaking about how powerful that moment was for them on The Late Late Show, John told Ryan Tubridy:

“It’s happening now and I think it’s going to be a powerful moment. I’m going to get a collection of hats after this”

“It’s just the unity the country needed right now and it’s for such a great cause. It’s an exhilarating feeling just to be here.”

Going on to speak about their immense grief Edward added:

“Our mum, five years ago, found out she had leukaemia and kidney failure in the same day”

“It was all a bit too much. The thing about it was that mum kept living her life.

“We were there when she passed and were able to hold her hand. We listened to Fleetwood Mac.”
