As Muireann O’Connell enjoys a well-deserved break from Ireland AM, a fresh and vibrant newcomer will be greeting us on the morning show this week.
The team behind Ireland AM has found a new and captivating talent to entertain us until Muireann returns.
So who exactly is Síomha Ní Ruairc?
Who is Síomha Ní Ruairc?
Some might recognise Síomha Ní Ruaic. However for those who don’t, we have you covered. Síomha is currently a presenter and producer on TG4. Born in Galway and raised in Lucan, Dublin, Síomha was raised in a Gaeilgoir family.
She completed her studies at Maynooth University earning a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Irish. While Síomha maintains a 9-5 position as a coordinator for Conradh na Gaeilge, she had also presented four studio series under Adare Productions, two series of Irish dancing competition An Ríl Deal and two series of family contest Réalta a Gaolta.
Phew!
However, Síomha has impressed us all with her spectacular documentary Síomha: Idir Anam is Corp (Síomha: Body and Soul). Where she examines the relationship that young women have with body image in Ireland, sharing some of her struggles and being obsessed with being thin and having blonde hair which are now a thing of the past.

What is Síomha’s documentary about?
What sparked the idea for the documentary was the reaction Síomha has received back in 2021, when she decided to grow out her body hair.
Where will we see Síomha next?
Her feature on Ireland AM this year is not the only exciting project Síomha will be working on. She’s set to host the upcoming season of Grá ar an Trá alongside Gráinne and James Kavanagh, featuring individuals in search of love throughout Ireland.
We are super excited for Síomha and we can’t wait to get to know her more!
