It’s the first St Patrick’s Day in a long time that we can really celebrate, which feels a little bit mad but also very exciting.
So, naturally people want to know where to go and what to do, it’ll definitely be one to remember!
We’ve rounded up some of the festivities we’ve seen happening around Dublin so you can take your pick of how to celebrate this week!
Wednesday 16th March
Things are kicking off on the Wednesday with a free concert with amazing acts such as Lyra, Soulé and Bobbi Arlo.
The show will be an over 18’s event and will take place at the main stage of the Festival Quarter which is in Stoneybatter and will begin at 7pm.
Hen’s Teeth are holding a new exhibition named G’Wan Ireland starting on Wednesday 16th.
Featuring the work of emerging Irish and Irish-based artists the exhibition will run until April 9th and is ideal for any art lovers in the area!
Thursday 17th Of March (St Patrick’s Day)
Of course the St Patrick’s Day Parade is on in Dublin with a host of exciting floats and guests in attendance. Actor John C Reilly was recently announced as the Guest Of Honour at this year’s parade, so head along if you want to catch a glimpse of the Step Brothers star.
Parades will be happening all around the country that day so if you want to avoid the major crowds, check out what your local area is doing to mark the occasion!
If you’re looking for a cute spot for a drink that’s not too crazy, try out The Wren Bar. This intimate pop-up venue offers guests an evening of hand-crafted cocktails showcasing Dingle Distillery’s fantastic gin, vodka and whiskey spirits.
Check out their availability and book a table at thewrenbar.ie.
Friday 27th
There are plenty of free events around the city centre throughout the week that are fun for all the family. If you’d like a fun activity to do with your kids, why not visit Friends Of Cursó. This interactive event guests can enjoy large scale automatas, brain teasers and mechanical games as well as a play area for young children. It might be fun to try something a little different!
Damien Dempsey is taking to the main stage at the festival quarter on Friday evening along with a special guest: THUMPER. The festival’s website says the show “will uplift the voices of Dublin and the stories of Ireland.” The show is over 18s and will kick off at 7pm if you’re interested!
