Jessie Buckley has just won her first Golden Globe for her role in Hamnet. The emotional performance has been creating Oscar buzz for months now.
And it looks like she will be keeping that buzz going in her next gig in The Bride.
The first trailer has just dropped for the reimagining of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and the 1935 film, The Bride of Frankenstein.
It has been described as “bold, iconoclastic”.

The Kilkenny actor will star alongside Christian Bale, as Frankenstein, in the film which is due to be released in March.
The synopsis reads: “A lonely Frankenstein travels to 1930s Chicago to ask groundbreaking scientist Dr. Euphronious to create a companion for him. The two revive a murdered young woman and The Bride is born.
“What ensues is beyond what either of them imagined: Murder! Possession! A wild and radical cultural movement! And outlaw lovers in a wild and combustible romance!”
Alongside Jessie and Christian, the film stars Peter Sarsgaard, Annette Bening, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Penélope Cruz.
Jessie previously spoke about the two very different experiences she had filming Hamnet and The Bride.
“If Hamnet is putting your hands down in the earth into clay, then The Bride is kind of being electrocuted with petrol in some shape or form,” she said.
“It was like a wild night of the heart making that film. It was intense, it was punk, it was provocative and deeply alive. I’m excited. I think it’s not what you expect. If you have any idea what Frankenstein is, don’t expect that version. This is something very new.”
The Bride! will be released in Ireland on 6th March 2026
