Last night saw the finale of hit BBC show Peaky Blinders. The program, which first aired in 2013, follows Birmingham gangsters the Shelby family and stars our every own Cillian Murphy in what many would say is his best role to date.

This is the sixth and final season of the show, and it’s release was delayed due to the pandemic as well as the script needing to be revised following Helen McCrory’s tragic passing last year. The first episode was dedicated to the late Helen who played the now iconic role of Polly Gray on the show.

The actress sadly passed away in April of last year, and it was revealed that she died at home after a private battle with cancer.

Fans of the show need not be too disappointed after the final episode last night as it was previously revealed that their will be a film adaptation to follow on from the ending of series six! It’s believed that filming for the movie will begin in 2023 with an estimated release date of 2024, and that Cillian Murphy will reprise his role as Tommy Shelby.

Yesterday evening the official Peaky Blinders Twitter account shared a picture of Tommy Shelby’s iconic cap finally at rest, captioned; “Thanks for watching #PeakyBlinders.”

“Thank you to all the incredible fans who have been a part of the journey over the last ten years. We couldn’t have done it without your support. Now we Peaky Blinders rest.”

Of course many fans of the show were quick to share their thoughts on the finale of the very last season of the show on Twitter last night.
