Tolü Makay topped the leaderboard on Sunday night when she performed the first Rumba of the season with partner Maciej Zięba, dancing to Faith Hill’s power ballad There You’ll Be.

Tolü earned seven points from Brian, eight from Karen, and nine each from Oti and Arthur, giving her a total of 33 points.

She’s one of the frontrunners to win, however, the singer thinks people may be “overestimating” her.

“I think people overestimated me, to be honest. I think there was an expectation because you have rhythm, or because you’re used to performing that obviously you know how to dance, and that’s just not the case,” she tells VIP Magazine.

‘I’m not a dancer, and each week I’m really just trying my hardest to make sure that I’m getting on with next week.”

Well, after her impressive run on the show, we think she can definitely call herself a dancer now!

She goes on to tell us that she had to make sure that this was the right time to appear on the show.

“When I said yes to Dancing With The Stars, it was because I knew that this was the right time,” she explains.

“This was the third time I was asked to do Dancing With The Stars, but this time was genuinely the first time I had a bit more space and time – even though I’m gigging! I was looking for joy in 2026,”

“Honestly, my slogan before I even said yes or knew what I was going to be doing Dancing With The Stars was, 2026 is going to be the year of shaking my ass!”

Yes, Tolü we love to see it!

Dancing with the Stars airs Sundays at 6:30pm on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player
