Operation Transformation is back to get us inspired this miserable January.
This week, however, emotions were running high both with our leaders as well as viewers at home.
Anne Cushen was moved to tears as her daughter emigrated to Australia.
According to new figures from the Central Statistics Office, 30,500 Irish citizens emigrated in 2023 with most of them heading to Australia or America.
It was a relatable moment for many Irish families.
Anne opened up about her 21-year-old daughter, Breda leaving for Australia admitting that it will be hard for her knowing her child will be across the world from her.
“There will be hard times, but we just have to get on with it. Nothing will break the bond of a mother and daughter,” she confessed.
However, she goes on to say: “It’s just I can’t myself, jump on a plane.”
Anne suffers with osteoarthritis and has had two hip replacements.

However, when her daughter suggested that she could visit her, Anne responded: “Sure I could do anything. You’re on an adventure and I’m on an adventure.”
Her daughter, Breda explained: “She’s always been somebody to look after everybody else. She never sits back and looks after herself or do something for herself.
“So this is why we figured out when she’d done this it was an absolute shock that she pushed herself to do something for her, and her own health. It’s absolutely brilliant for her.”
Viewers shared how relatable this moment was for them.
These scenes of the family bidding farewell to the daughter as she heads off to Australia hits home considering my brother went there a few months ago. Hope Anne does well. #OperationTransformation
